Medium frequency induction furnace characteristic

Medium frequency induction furnace smelting cast iron is a smelting method that uses the induction effect of alternating current to make the metal charge in the crucible emit heat, melt it, and further superheat the molten iron.

Currently, the induction furnaces used for cast iron smelting in China are mostly medium frequency induction furnaces. Followed by industrial-frequency induction furnaces, and high-frequency induction furnaces are rare. The furnace discussed here is a medium frequency induction furnace.

Medium frequency induction furnace smelting cast iron has the following characteristics:

  1. The smelting process is stable, and it can melt cast iron of various compositions. Such as gray cast iron, ductile iron, malleable cast iron, etc. In addition, since the induction furnace generates the heat in the furnace, the thermal efficiency is high. The heating and melting speed is fast, the operation is easy to control, and the process is relatively stable.
  2. The quality of the molten iron is good and the composition changes little. There is no sulfur and carbon increase in the medium frequency induction furnace smelting. It is easier to slag and cover the molten iron, reducing the oxidation and burning of the alloy in the molten iron. At the same time, it prevents air inhalation and reduces non-metallic inclusions and gases in the molten iron. In addition, due to the electromagnetic stirring effect of the induction furnace, the composition of the molten iron is also relatively uniform.
  3. Use more scrap steel to produce synthetic cast iron by carbonization. Medium frequency induction furnace smelting can use a large amount of scrap steel. And use a carbonizer for carbonization treatment, so that the composition finally meets the process requirements. The maximum use of scrap steel saves costs.
  4. The temperature of the molten iron is easy to control. The induction furnace is easy to adjust and control the temperature when used. And it is easier to meet the iron tapping and pouring temperatures required by the process.
  5. Cheap raw materials can be used. The electromagnetic stirring effect of the medium frequency induction furnace can be used during smelting. And small scraps can be added to it, so that they are quickly rolled into the molten iron, with less burning loss, which greatly saves the cost of castings, while it is difficult to use these small scraps during cupola smelting.
  6. Meet environmental protection requirements. The induction furnace emits less dust and smoke, which meets environmental protection requirements. The working conditions and labor intensity of the melting workers have also been significantly improved.
